Nike Structure Plus Review- A Big Surprise & New Take, Friendly and "Supportive Cushioning"
Dec 8, 2025
In the video, Sam tests and reviews the early 2026 releasing Nike Structure Plus, a new take on support/ stability without the rough prescriptive usual from such shoes. Filmed on the Riverwalk in San Antonio and along the New Hampshire (frozen) Coast with shoe details and lots of scenery as he narrates from the runs.

Hello everybody. Today we're going to
0:01
take a look at Nike Structure Plus
0:03
releasing January February. Uh it is a
0:06
new take on stability without plates or
0:09
firm sidewalls. It features ReactX foam
0:12
on below and a core of lively ZoomX.
0:16
Nike calls it supportive cushioning and
0:19
that's exactly what I experienced on the
0:21
run at the running event in San Antonio
0:24
in nice warm weather and here in New
0:26
Hampshire in nice cold weather. So,
0:29
here's our take.
0:31
Hi everybody, Sam from Road Trail Run.
0:33
Today, we're going to take a look at
0:34
Nike's Support Structure Plus, which is
0:38
coming out uh limited in January and
0:41
then more globally in February.
0:44
So, this is Nike's uh plus version of
0:48
the structure. I haven't run the
0:50
structure I think ever because as Nike
0:53
says in kind of at our um at the running
0:56
event where they introduced it,
0:59
stability is boring. And I agree. I
1:03
really have not much enjoyed any
1:05
stability shoe. They're either posted or
1:08
too broad. Um but here Nike has done
1:12
something kind of special um which I'm
1:15
very much enjoying. So what they've done
1:18
is first
1:18
it's decently light at 10.2 oz 288 gram
1:22
in this USA 8.5 samples on a a quite
1:26
broad platform.
1:29
So for example the um vimeo plus which
1:32
is just slightly higher stack height is
1:35
9.6 oz. Here we have a 42 millimeter
1:39
heel 32 millimeter uh forefoot. looks
1:42
higher because the secret here, if you
1:46
will, are these high sidewalls of React
1:50
X. The black being a deep uh central
1:54
core of Nike's super duper ZoomX. You
1:57
can see not particularly uh uh firm
2:01
either. And what this does is these
2:05
sidewalls, while they look massive on
2:08
the lateral side, there's the medial
2:10
side. Um, on the lateral side, they're
2:14
more concave, which allows you to land
2:17
and roll a bit towards the medial side
2:20
with this kicking in for support. Now,
2:22
I've taken them out for runs here in New
2:25
Hampshire and also at the at the running
2:28
event. And this is a very subtle kind of
2:32
uh pleasant take on stability. Uh, I'm
2:35
surprised because I'm usually in a
2:37
neutral type shoe. I can't really stand
2:41
stability, but this has been fun. Just
2:43
very gentle guidance down the sides here
2:47
and kind of a lively ride because we've
2:49
got that top-notch Zumex. You can see
2:53
they're relatively flexible already
2:56
after a couple runs. The upper is an
2:59
engineered mesh, soft, true to size, not
3:02
particularly broad, kind of the usual
3:04
Nike fit, but a little bit more giving u
3:07
mesh here than, for example, the the
3:10
Vimeo Plus or say a Pegasus. We got lots
3:13
of cushioning. While there isn't a
3:15
gusset to the tongue, there is a panel
3:18
on the medial side which ties into the
3:21
lacing. A little bit difficult to see,
3:23
whereas on the lateral side, there
3:26
isn't. So what they're doing is
3:28
providing you more pull, more support on
3:32
the medial side here, pulling intable
3:36
and steady. So this is stability done in
3:40
a pleasant fashion. And even neutral
3:42
runners, I think, can enjoy this for
3:45
certain kinds of runs, for example,
3:46
recovery runs, long runs. Um, it's
3:49
really excellent. There's not really a
3:53
uh small waffle outsole as say on the
3:56
Vimero Plus, but a uh kind of more uh
4:00
flatter kind of profile works really
4:03
well. You can see the grooves which help
4:06
uh with the toe off and then the firmer
4:10
rubber here that adds the stability but
4:12
a deep decoupling or u groove in the
4:16
center here which also allows that nice
4:19
smooth flow forward. So, I'm going to
4:21
give you some impressions from
4:23
relatively warm San Antonio at the
4:25
running event where it was about 40 four
4:29
um four Celsius and then from today's
4:32
run where it was minus4. Uh see how that
4:36
foam kind of acts. Then we'll have a few
4:38
conclusions. But another surprise from
4:41
Nike in the bigger shoe category for
4:44
this year in the trainers to go with
4:46
that um Vomero Plus and Vomero Premium.
4:51
Let's take them for the run in San
4:53
Antonio along the Riverwalk. And then
4:55
here in New Hampshire.
4:58
Okay, we're on the Riverwalk. We got
5:00
some nice duckies. Oh, little ones, too.
5:03
And we got the structure plus
5:07
uh it's got Zumx and Reactex.
5:12
I was kind of worried it would be a
5:14
lumpy stability shoe, but the Zumx does
5:19
a nice job. And the sidewalls, which
5:22
showed you, come up seemingly really
5:25
high. You'd think it'd be really rigid
5:28
on the medial side, but it isn't.
5:31
They're just nice vertical walls, but um
5:35
I don't usually run in stability shoes.
5:39
So, this is a very pleasant experience.
5:45
We're on the river walk.
5:48
So, I was saying the uh sidewalls
5:52
that rise up
5:54
particularly on the medial side, but
5:56
both sides really are kind of high.
5:58
They're almost like part of the heel
6:00
counter more than anything you feel
6:04
strongly underfoot. So, it's not a
6:06
medial post, that's for sure. And it's
6:08
also not I don't get that rigid kind of
6:12
right at the arch feel that I often did
6:15
in the Brook Sky Grillil, although it's
6:18
better. Those are better now. And then
6:21
the other thing, the toe off. I think
6:23
because we have that nice dollop of
6:26
ZoomX is lively, very responsive. Okay,
6:29
it's not a light shoe. It's not a racing
6:32
shoe, but I think
6:34
uh we're going about 940 mi, 950, maybe
6:39
a bit faster,
6:41
but it's certainly a shoe that you could
6:43
call a heavyduty daily trainer.
6:47
And probably you I will use it also for
6:52
those easier recovery runs. But for
6:56
longer runs, you want that stability
6:59
uh bit more than say neutral but
7:03
noticeable but not obnoxious. It's
7:06
feeling pretty darn good. So now we're
7:08
going over the locks on the San Antonio
7:11
River. The river walk goes all the way
7:16
multiple branches through the center San
7:19
Antonio. So if we kept going here
7:22
another mile mile about couple miles,
7:25
we'd be at the convention center where
7:27
the running event was.
7:32
Outsole plays well with the road uh in
7:36
this concrete. Little bit slippery on
7:40
these pebbles. They were washing them,
7:43
but that's to be expected. We've run
7:45
several shoes here. They've all been
7:47
kind of slippery on the pebbles when
7:49
they're wet. So, we're about five miles
7:51
in on the riverwalk.
7:54
I think the shoes settling in a bit. You
7:56
know, the uh uh stability thing or the
8:00
side
8:02
walls kind of probably adapt to your
8:04
individual stride depending on how much
8:06
you need. So, I'm finding them a little
8:08
bit more mellow here in the six mile
8:11
than in the first. A little bit smoother
8:14
flow along. It's just beautiful in here.
8:18
Right through the center of town.
8:22
The surface is kind of pebbles with in
8:26
concrete. A little bit slippery in
8:28
places, but any shoe would be slippery.
8:32
But grip's good.
8:36
temperature in the 40s, 50s. Look at
8:39
these islands.
8:41
So, there's all kinds of things right by
8:45
the river. Oo, maybe come back there for
8:48
coffee.
8:51
What I'm really noticing again is the
8:54
the toe off.
8:58
Stability shoes tend to be more rigid at
9:01
the rear. Tend to be to get you towing
9:05
off
9:07
easy or easy enough. Tend to be
9:09
flexible. I haven't flexed it. I'll do
9:11
that after. But it feels nice and
9:14
snappy.
9:16
Oh, we got some cowboy art.
9:22
Oh, that's where the on party was.
9:24
Sorry, Nike.
9:28
Got Brisco Art Museum. They had a cool
9:31
stage coach.
9:34
This for sure isn't the River Walk in
9:36
San Antonio. It's the Atlantic here and
9:39
ride for another run in our structure
9:43
plus. Well, the fit is definitely true
9:45
to size, relatively broad. The mesh is
9:49
decently
9:51
soft.
9:53
You've got a nice firm toe bumper, but
9:56
it isn't too kind of over the toes. The
9:58
foot wrap is excellent. This is a very
10:02
comfortable ride to go with what Nike
10:05
calls supportive cushioning. And the
10:08
foam hasn't hardened up in the Gold
10:10
here. It's about 23° breezy, about - 5
10:14
or 6 Celsius. I'm going to run along
10:18
here. Beautiful day here. Cold, but
10:21
beautiful.
10:23
give you some more commentary in a few
10:26
when I get back on pavement, but the
10:28
sand's pretty firm, too.
10:32
There's a lot of seaweeds washed up. So,
10:34
there's a real sense of directed kind of
10:38
in the line of travel
10:41
motion here because of that
10:44
those sidewalls.
10:47
doesn't really feel like traditional
10:50
stability at all. It's more sort of a
10:55
guidance forward. We definitely have a
10:58
nice lively toe off in this shoe.
11:02
So, there's no sensation of
11:05
overstabilization
11:07
in the sides, either the lateral side or
11:10
the medial side. So, as I'm
11:16
running more in them, I think we're
11:19
really looking at a shoe that's
11:21
definitely a daily trainer. I'm finding
11:23
it more lively in flex sort of and kind
11:28
of snap off the forefoot if bit less
11:30
cushion than say the Romero Plus.
11:34
uh our stabilizing elements
11:38
are towards the rear
11:41
and they get very very gentle right at
11:45
midfoot.
11:47
So there's no sensation of arch
11:49
pressure, firmness under the arch or on
11:55
the sides of the arch. just sort of
11:58
directs you. I think depending on your
12:02
needs, it's probably quite adaptive.
12:07
So, I don't need much, but if you do
12:10
pronate quite a bit, I bet it'll kick in
12:14
a bit more as you pronate to the side.
12:19
But, as far as I'm concerned,
12:21
for me,
12:24
it's supportive cushioning, as they say.
12:27
And it's
12:29
almost kind of a neutral feel more than
12:33
a stability feel,
12:37
but more pronounced and say a Vero Plus
12:40
or a Vomero, but really a fine ride and
12:45
a fine day. So, we go from that nice
12:48
stable but not harsh heel with our 10 mm
12:53
drop to the front to rubber that's not
12:55
overly firm. You got a really nice
12:58
responsive toe off. I think 10 mm in a
13:03
drop in a shoe like this is just what we
13:06
want because it drives you forward that
13:09
stability and then to even though it's
13:12
not a light shoe to a really I think
13:15
dynamic quick to off toe off with a bit
13:19
of flexibility. So it's just very
13:22
effective. So, like I think this would
13:25
be an excellent choice for long runs at
13:29
moderate paces, maybe even fast paces if
13:32
you don't want to go with a super light
13:34
shoe. Certainly a daily trainer if you
13:38
want some stability, not worried about
13:40
weight. It's not bad.
13:43
Uh 10.2 10.3 O 290 g in my US8.5.
13:50
reasonable for the 42 32 stack height.
13:55
They're lighter shoes, but they really
13:57
serve different purposes.
14:02
Okay, thank you very much for watching.
14:05
We don't know the price yet as of this
14:08
filming of the uh structure plus. Expect
14:12
probably 170, 180, something like that.
14:15
Uh,
14:17
it should be available
14:20
early January at select retailers and
14:22
more globally February 6.
14:26
Nike Structure Plus.
14:29
A nice, friendly,
14:32
supportive, quote stability shoe that
14:36
really doesn't feel like one. Thank you
14:39
very much for watching. Have a great
14:41
run.
