Hi, I'm Travis Hildebrand. I'm the merchandising manager for Running Footwear from North America
0:06
and I'm going to talk to you about a new shoe coming out from Salomon called the Genesis
0:11
This is a trail running shoe that is designed for a few different purposes. It's a very
0:18
robust shoe. It's got a matrix upper. If anybody's familiar with matrix, matrix is a very, very
0:24
durable yarn upper, so this is going to be able to withstand any sort of abrasion from
0:30
rocks, roots, shale, or other types of sharp rocks, and it's not going to rip or tear or
0:36
blow out like some regular meshes do. It also has a very reinforced toe cap to protect the
0:44
toes from kicking rocks and roots and stumbling. Also, it has our quick lace technology, which
0:49
provides a nice even pressure across the instep of the shoe. It also has a very soft lining around
0:57
the heel collar of the shoe to help to hold the foot in place in a very, very comfortable way for
1:03
long-distance type running. The hero of the shoe is the foam in combination with our active chassis
1:11
The foam of the shoe is our energy foam, which is taken from our road running footwear. Very
1:16
very cushioned and lightweight. The entire weight of this shoe is very, very light in
1:23
comparison to how much technology is in the shoe. You would expect the shoe to be well over 10
1:28
ounces, but it comes in just under at 9.6 ounces. Also, this active chassis on the lateral side
1:35
provides an ability for the shoe to help to catch the foot and keep you from rolling ankles as
1:42
you're running. So the combination of the durable upper, the durable toe cap, the active chassis
1:49
really provide a very confident trail running shoe for almost any condition. And then to increase
1:54
that level of confidence, we have a new engineered rubber compound on the bottom. Salomon makes our
2:01
own rubber. We brand it as Contagrip, and this version of Contagrip is the stickiest version
2:08
that Salomon has ever made. Very, very good at gripping rocks, trees, other things that you might
2:16
be stepping on, whether they're wet or dry. Four millimeter lug depth with a very good pattern for
2:22
self-cleaning lugs to help to keep the mud from building up on the bottom. This is a shoe that
2:27
you can take anywhere, from anywhere from walking the dog all the way up to summiting a peak. This
2:33
is a very, very versatile trail running shoe. Very cushioned, good ample fit for a good generous
2:40
fit profile. A very, very comfortable shoe to wear
