This is Dom Layfield at the running
0:02
event 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. I'm
0:05
here at the Carbetex booth uh with Casey
0:07
RMA. Casey, would you tell us a little
0:10
bit about Carbidex and
0:11
Absolutely. So, Carbideex is the maker
0:13
of flexible carbon plates that's used in
0:16
performance footwear. Been around since
0:18
about 2012. And in performance footwear
0:22
starting in 2016, um Carpetex has
0:25
patented flexible technology. Um, so
0:28
compared to a rigid carbon fiber, which
0:32
gives you no almost no flex, very stiff,
0:36
very kind of one fits all solution
0:40
versus carbex that makes two different
0:41
types of flexible plates. We have
0:43
monoflex, which is flexible in one
0:45
direction and stiff in the other. So,
0:48
Monoflex is used in products like the
0:50
Ultra Montlanc Carbon and it's stiff in
0:54
the direction that will give you
0:55
protection and stability on the trail.
0:59
So, so you have that one upside down,
1:01
right? Which way faces down in the shoe?
1:04
Apologies.
1:04
Yes.
1:05
So, protection from underneath and gives
1:08
you stabil stability and equalizes gives
1:10
you efficient pressure distribution and
1:13
then flexible in the other direction.
1:15
So, still gives you a natural feel as
1:17
you're
1:19
walking, running on the trail.
1:22
And then we have
1:24
[Music]
1:26
gear flex plate which is dynamically
1:29
flexible. So, here you're still flexible
1:32
in this direction and then in this
1:34
direction you're flexible to a point and
1:37
then a stiffness engages. And we work
1:40
with brands to kind of determine how
1:42
stiff it needs to be and when that
1:44
stiffness engages. So
1:47
as you're putting more into the shoe,
1:50
when you go from walking to running, as
1:53
you engage that MTV joint, MTO
1:57
P joint, um, it is getting stiffer,
2:00
which is then giving you propulsion and
2:02
response through each step.
2:04
That's fascinating stuff.
2:06
All right. Thank you so much.
2:07
Thank you so much.
